It's been a few days since I posted my last Betfair betting from Canada update, and I continue to learn new things over at the world's biggest gambling website.
Last night was a reminder of why I am normally a Pick 4 specialist and do not regularly try to handicap single races. I am not an ideal gambler, for when I get tired or depressed I tend to hammer longshots for no particluar reaspon... a sad habit. Yesterday I accidentally got a fill on a longshot at 23-1 (had tried to enter 32-1...) and instead of accepting my error, I bought more around 35-1 and compounded my mistake. For some reason I then placed Starting Price bets on this horse and another longshot and ended up blowing about $30 on the one race. Anyways, i am often able to learn from my mistakes, so i don't beat myself up too much over these regrettable, emotional trades.
When on my game, I had been trying to make a market in outsiders and live longshots, however my new strategy will focus more on the faves and contenders, as these have greater trading volumes, which should result in more hedging and arbitraging opportunities.
