I had the pleasure of attending a Saturday night of unusual races at Mohawk with my father last night, and it wasn't just the fog that had bettors scratching their heads and clutching their wallets.
When superhorse Rock N Roll Heaven broke stride and went from first to last, that misfire resulted in Show payouts for the 2nd and 3rd place finishers of $138 and $120!!! Yes, for a $2 Show ticket on a stakes-calibre racehorse!!! If the fave hadn't broke stride it may have been a 2.10 payout, but that's coulda shoulda woulda talk.
After last nights ultimate manifestation of the old betting proverb "favorites are born to lose", the leading contenders for the Pepsi 2010 North America Cup have been reshuffled and I now declare the race to be officially WIDE OPEN.
