Leafs' Bolland and Bernier make Nonis smile

Toronto tops Philly 3-1

After a strong first period, coach Randy Carlyle elevated Dave Bolland to the second line with Lupul and Kulemin, and Bolland responded with the winning and insurance goals. Phil Kessel scored the Maple Leafs first marker on his 26th birthday.

Toronto GM Dave Nonis traded for both Bolland and new goaltender Johnathan Bernier during the summer, and they carried the team tonight. Bernier was spectacular and the Buds are now 2-0 on the road to start their 2013-14 NHL season.
